McCauley's 1872 "Dear Uncle" letter that is part of the McCauley collection at the University of North Carolina (Chapel Hill) Wilson Library is probably to his uncle Mathew McCauley (youngest child of Mathew and Martha McCauley) of Orange County NC regarding the sale of land that his father's (George Johnston McCauley) will had directed should be sold.
