Note

Ernest Christian was a farmer, a Lutheran, and served in World War I. Ernest Christian Peterson was a farmer at Herman, Washington County, Nebraska; Macy, Thurston County, Nebraska; Lyons, Burt County, Nebraska; Millard, Douglas County, Nebraska; and Ft. Calhoun, Washington County, Nebraska. He served in the Army in France during world War I and was nicknamed "Bugler Peterson" because he was company bugler. He received his basic training at Camp Funston, Kansas. Death was due to chondrasarcoma ilium. He is buried in Hillcrest Cemetery, Omaha, Douglas County, Nebraska.

In the 1900 U. S. Census, Christine Brodersen Peterson is now the widow of her second husband Jaspersen, and head of her family. She is thirty-three, having been born in 1867 in Nebraska. She is the mother of three living children who are livingwith her in a rented house (Platte 224). She and her parents are listed as originating in Germany. Her children are Anna M. Peterson born in 1887 and age twelve, Alfred E Peterson born in 1889 and age ten, and Ernest C. Peterson born in 1892. All three were born in Nebraska, have parents and grandparents from Germany, and are students in school.

In the 1910 U. S. Census, eighteen-year-old Ernest Petersen is shown as an employee working for Charles Andersen.

In the 1920 U. S. Census, Ernest and Pauline Peterson are living with Leo P. Hugelman. Ernest is twenty-seven and Pauline is twenty-four. Both can read and write. Ernest'Äôs parents are shown to be from Denmark while Pauline'Äôs are from Nebraska. Ernest is a farmer and laborer. Ernest'Äôs brother, Al is also living with the Hugelmans. At thirty, Al is listed as a farmer and laborer who can read and write.

The Hugelman family consists of:
Leo P. Hugelman, a thirty-five year old farmer who rents. Both he and his wife read and write. Anna is thirty-two. His parents are from Germany and her parents are from Denmark.

The 1930 U. S. Census shows E. C. Peterson and Pauline, his wife, living on a rented farm in Burt County. At the time of the census, Ernest is thirty-seven and Pauline, thirty-three. They were married when Ernest was twenty-seven and Pauline twenty-three respectively. They live on the farm with daughters, Marjorie (age 9), Adeline (age 8), Irvin (age 6), Violet (age 5), and Marilyn (age 1). They read and write English and Marjorie, Adeline, Irvin, and Violet have gone to school during the year. Ernest'Äôs parents are recorded as being from Denmark, while Pauline'Äôs parents were born in Nebraska. Ernest is a farmer and a veteran of the World War.

Ernest Christian Peterson registered for military service in Herman Precinct (Washington County), Nebraska, on June 5, 1917. He gives his birth as April 19, 1892, and is twenty-five years old. His home address was Herman, Nebraska. According to the record, he is a Caucasian, natural-born citizen born in Herman. He is a self-employed farmer. He is single with no one solely dependent upon him. His physical description notes that he is medium height, slender build with blue eyes anddark brown hair. He is not bald. There is no disability.
